ABOUT US
DUO PUDICA
Since 2020, Duo Pudica has been performing at the several events at audience’s private house garden, restaurant and cafe in the Hague. Also publishing the online concerts for the audiences in Ecuador and Colombia.
The idea to put together the two worlds; the Early Music world and the Jazz world meaning not necessarily Jazz itself more the way to approach music from an oral tradition rather than the written approach that governs Early Music.
In this ensemble the repertoire consists of postcolonial Ecuadorian folkloric dances such as the "Pasillos, Albazos and Jumbos", Brazilian Chôros by Pixinguinha, traditional Japanese music for "Koto (floor stringed instrument) and Shakuhachi (flute)" , music from French Baroque composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau, François Francoeur and music by Johann Sebastian Bach that Yussif arranged for violin and double bass. We got the luck to learn, rearrange and investigate together.
Our project is done in period instruments with gut strings, giving a very colorful and raw sound to our performances that fit very well with the "World Music" and of course a must for historically informed performance practice.
This concerts series aims to share the joy of music with a wide age range of audience, going from kids thinking "wow a singing double bass", elderly just wanting a regular classical music setting, young adults, with very joyful music such the Brazilian "Chôros" to heart felt Ecuadorian "Pasillos" that are melancholic yet hopeful. This mix will be very important to excite our younger audience, since the world music presented is very rhythmical and easy to follow.
Since the current situation of no contact, no travel, a lot human losses and suffering. Art is the medicine for the soul, we want to give hope in minutes that the
audience will listen our performances.
